Aims of this Website

For many people, this will be the first time they have looked for child care. Often, their only experience of child care is what they, or their parents, can recall of their own experiences many years ago.

However, there are a lot of "half truths" and "mis-information" out there.

You may have noticed that many nursery websites are basically set up as sales brochures, and to a certain extent so is this one. Indeed, we hope you will be impressed enough with what we have on this website to think our nursery worthy of at least a visit.

However, where we believe we are unique is that we offer you direct, easy access to the "insider" knowledge. We tell you what is supposed to be happening in nurseries and why, in order that you may make an informed decision. Where possible this information is taken directly from the legislative (but easy to read) source. Where this is not possible we have provided a factual statement on the subject.

Some of the answers we give you are:

What does an Ofsted inspection actually cover?

All nurseries have to work towards the ELG's - but what are they?

What are the actual standards that all nurseries have to meet?
(read them here for yourself)

The questions most nurseries hope you won't ask.

By sharing what we know with you, we hope you will see we have an open approach and that we know what we are talking about. We also hope that we will have helped you to be better informed about Day Nurseries and hence to be able to make a more informed decision about the care for your child.

We hope you find this site both interesting and informative.
