By 2004 the Government require that 40% of all Day Care Settings (Private or School) will have gained a nationally recognised accreditation award. Gaining accreditation means that the setting has been judged to exceed those standards required by Ofsted. Accreditation provides a kite mark for parents to highlight which settings have the highest standards. Quality Counts is the Accreditation Scheme overseen by National Day Nurseries Association. It is very stringent with over 230 specific criteria which are rigorously observed to ensure they are met.
